Dual Credit/ AP and Pre-AP

Ap or Dual Credit?

What exactly do the terms "Pre-AP, AP & Dual Credit (DC)" mean ?

  • Honors - College Preparatory course offered at the middle school or high school level.  These courses do not result in college credit.
  • Advanced Placement (AP) - Nationally recognized college level course with curriculum that is regulated by Collegeboard.  Colleges and universities may grant college credit to students who obtain a score of 3 or higher on the examination given at the end of the course.  See "AP Credit Policy" in the information box below for more details.
  • Dual Credit (DC) - A course that stems from an agreement between the local school district, universities and community colleges whereby a high school student enrolls in a college course and simultaneously earns both college and high school credit.  These courses can be offered on either the high school or college campus.
